Town of Sullivan's Island



Located in Town Hall with the General Administration  Staff, the Building Department is comprised of three (3) members.


Joe Henderson, Zoning Administrator

Joe Henderson, Zoning Administrator

Manages all zoning related matters for the Town, to include ordinance review and compliance, plans review (zoning aspects), tree removals, etc.  Joe received his MPA from Clemson, Urban Planning (Master Certificate) from the College of Charleston and his BA from Coastal Carolina University.  Joe joined the Town in 2013 with previous experience as Zoning Administrator for the City of Conway and planning experience with Horry County.  Joe, his wife Cari and three children live in Mt. Pleasant.


Randy Robinson, Chief Building Inspector

Manages all building related matters and inspections; serves as Town's code enforcement officer and flood plain manager.  Randy has worked for the Town for over twenty years, in the fire and then building departments.  


Jessi Gress, Permit Technician/Building Licenses

Handles all building related permits and licenses; issues and coordinates Town business licenses; recording clerk for Design Review Board and Tree Commission.  Jessi joined the Town as reception/administrative support in February 2017 and moved to her current position in the Building Department in February 2018.  She lives with her family in Charleston.
