Many residents are clearing away winter
brush and starting spring planting.
Please
help
the Town’s debris removal contractor by
remembering these guidelines when you clean:

2. Cut small limbs to a maximum
length of 4 feet;
3. Use clear plastic bags for leaves
(black bags will not be picked up)
4. Weekly yard debris pick-up is on
Wednesday’s. Please plan your yard work
accordingly.
________
If
you use a landscape service or hire a
contractor to do your yard work,
Town
ordinances
require the following:
1. Business/Contractor must obtain a Town
Business License
2. Business/Contractor must remove all yard
debris at its expense -
Pursuant to Section

SMOKING ORDINANCE CHALLENGE – The
Court has ruled in favor of the Town of Sullivan’s Island
smoking ordinance. The Town will retain the state’s first
comprehensive smokefree indoor workplace and public place
ordinance after turning back a challenge by a local
establishment. The plaintiffs challenged Home Rule as it
relates to smoking ordinances, claiming state law prevents
local municipalities from passing smokefree ordinances.
Judge Deadra Jefferson found neither “express” nor “implied”
preemption in state law. View
