PUBLIC FORUM ON JANUARY 29, 2008 A BIG SUCCESS!

Scores of Town residents participated in the January 29th public forum where they learned about the Town’s Comprehensive Plan and gave feedback on their vision for the Town. The Town is required to review its Comprehensive Plan every ten year, and the Planning Commission will begin this process at its February 13th meeting (5:00pm) at Town Hall. Residents met with Planning Commission members, Town officials and Planning Staff to ask questions and complete surveys. There are still opportunities for residents to offer their opinions.

The function of the Planning Commission is to prepare a comprehensive plan and program for the physical, social and economic growth of the Town of Sullivan’s Island. In order to promote the public health, morals, convenience, prosperity, or the general welfare as well as efficiency and economy of the Town of Sullivan’s Island. The duties, responsibilities, and powers of the Planning Commission are provided in SC Code Title 6, Chapter 29, 6-29-310 et. seq. (9-16-74; 4-20-66).

  • The Planning Commission meets on the second Wednesday of every month at 6:30 P.M. in Council chambers.
